Vacation rentals are gaining popularity as alternatives to traditional hotels in some of the world's hottest tourist destinations. These properties offer travelers some of the comforts of home during their trips, such as fully equipped kitchens and separate bedrooms. Many of the more luxurious options feature some extra amenities, like private swimming pools, hot tubs, and spa treatments. The various types of rentals available can accommodate small or large groups, depending on their particular requirements. The fully furnished condos, resorts, and villas offered have a wide price range, and some are comparable to hotel fares. Here are some of the options you can choose from:

- Apartments & Condos: These vacation rentals are often located very close to downtown areas, beaches, and bars and restaurants. Some apartments are single units attached to large homes, which offer more privacy than those apartments within the same building. Many are equipped with washers and dryers, barbecues, and private balconies and patios. Some properties also include swimming pools and fitness centers.

- Cottages & Private Homes: These fully furnished houses can be located among other homes or in more secluded areas. Beach houses are an excellent option in many of the most popular tourist destinations. Guests can walk out the door and onto the beach, or enjoy an ocean sunset view from inside. Cottages are more common in Europe and can be converted farmhouses or even castles. Depending on the number of travelers in your group and your price range, you can choose from small or large cottages and homes.

- Villas & Luxury Homes: Among the more expensive vacation rentals, villas and luxury homes are typically larger than other rental properties and include more amenities. These options can cost thousands of dollars per night, which may not be affordable for many people. For those who can afford it, staying at a villa often includes several luxury accommodations, like spa treatments, theater rooms, and private chefs. Some luxury homes have steam rooms, private swimming pools and Jacuzzis, and game rooms.

- Mobile Homes & Camping: For travelers who love the outdoors, mobile homes allow them to be close to nature without having to "rough it". Mobile homes and even tents are available in a wide variety of sizes, and the larger options can include up to three bedrooms and two bathrooms. A more average-size mobile home typically has two bedrooms and one bathroom, but more sleeping space is available with pull-down beds in lounging areas. Tents are far from the normal canvas and poles you may be used to. They are specially designed to have two or three bedrooms and a separate living area. They also come equipped with some kitchen appliances, like a stovetop and refrigerator.

The variety of vacation rentals to choose from can accommodate groups of any size with any budget. Some larger companies also offer houseboats and resort-like condos or townhomes. Some of the smaller options, like apartments and condosHealth Fitness Articles, are similar in price to a hotel room. The added benefits of extra privacy and more amenities are helping to make these properties more popular. There are many options to consider near some of the biggest tourist destinations around the world.
