But trade that off with the satisfaction of not only having done a good job, but the knowledge that you are providing valuable information to others from around the world.

The internet never sleeps. Somewhere in this world someone is just getting out of bed to begin their day. Somewhere else folks are just hitting the bed for a nights sleep. 24/7 hundreds of millions of people just like you are on line searching for information, the information you have locked in your brain.

Basically there are two types of sites on line. First is the information site with information on every conceivable subject imaginable. Second is the store site set up to sell every item in the world.

Assuming you are a person who fits the first category this article will focus on you. We will leave the store concept to the entrepreneur to build.

Take a look at the reason why you think you would want to build a site. Do you truly want to build an information site? You know the type if you surf the net from time to time for information. Information on how to grow roses, how to build a birdhouse, how to run, travel to exotic places, read about famous people and events. Every subject known to man.

There are an awful lot of sites out there. For instance if you search for the word roses you will find there are 104,000,000 sites with the word roses on line. Don’t let that deter you. Most of these sites simply might have the word rose somewhere on their site.

So we will assume you have an urge to tell the world what you know. Great. Now take a look at the long term. Assume you will build a site with 100 pages of wonderful information. You meet up with someone and find out they are making money with their similar site by placing ads or affiliate banner ads on their pages. Well now, you may not have thought of that but that sounds good.

Open almost any site on line and you will see ads by google. Every time someone clicks on one of those ads google pays them a few cents. If you were to have a 100 page site with three google block ads containing a total of ten specific ads for a total of one thousand specific ads. Chances are that sooner or later visitors will find your site, click on an ad and you earn money. All you need to do is keep those visitors interested and they will click time and time again.

The most important consideration you need to make before starting a site is the concept. The theme or the subject of your site.

If the reason you want a website is strictly for your own gratification and not monetary then pick your subject and start to write. There are still millions of people interested in any subject. However, if in the long run you might be interested in advertising revenue you may want to consider a subject with a wider interest. For instance. A concept based upon the left big toe of a prehistoric ape would have a narrow audience. A concept based upon gardening or casino life or outdoor life in Aspen Colorado would have a wide audience. The latter of these subjects would have a great many more visitors and would create more advertising revenue.

Whatever your concept. Sit down at your computer and get started in the fascinating life of a website owner.
