I’m talking about the dimply, lumpy areas that are the result of fat cells bulging underneath the skin. You get it on your thighs, your belly, and your buttocks area. People don’t have to be overweight to have cellulite. It can be hereditary, it can come from poor diet, crash diets, high estrogen levels, lack of water, and even certain medications. But do you know what? You can lose that cellulite and you can also prevent cellulite from forming by using certain methods. Television’s Early Show on CBS network aired a program dealing with cellulite. This show featured dermatologist, Dr. Ava Shamban. Shamban contends that every woman will, at some point, get cellulite. She explains that connective tissue plays a predominant role in the production of this condition. Research has found that creams that contain caffeine are useful in the reduction of cellulite. Caffeine has been known to eliminate fat to some extent. It helps swelling around the fatty tissue to subside—thus it smoothes the skin. Caffeine will also make the blood vessels tighter. It seems to be a key element in reducing cellulite. Retinol, CoffeyBerry, and Aminophylline are some caffeine based creams that may work on cellulite. These creams usually need to be stored away from light and heat. Another notable cellulite treatment is birch oil. This type of oil will restore smoothness to the skin and make it more flexible.

Now, another good idea for the prevention of cellulite occurrence is the lifestyle you choose to live. Try to avoid smoking and alcohol drinking. Both have been known to increase cellulite. Although exercise doesn’t take away this condition, it is still a good idea to stay fit. Even the clothing you wear and how much you stand and sit can affect a cellulite problem. Your clothing, if you have cellulite, should be loose and you should not stay in the same position (standing or sitting) for a prolonged period.

Your diet plays an enormous role in decreasing and preventing cellulite. You need a low fat and low sugar diet because of saturated fats. Your diet  must be rich in fiber and include lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, and grains. Also drink at least two liters of water each day—more if you desire, as water cleanses your system of toxins contained in certain foods.

While some folks who are disgusted with their cellulite problem turn to cosmetic surgery—it has not been proven to be very effective. The surgery is FDA approved, but the results vary from patient to patient. In some cases of surgery, the skin can be heated and made to look younger, smoother, and more vital. It is reported that these surgeries such as liposuction, Syneron, Mesotherapy, and others haven’t produced constant and satisfying enough results in enough people to really recommend them to people with cellulite. They could be a waste of money and time. The medications for cellulite only smooth the appearance of the skinArticle Submission, they do not actually remove the cellulite. It is best to stick to a proper lifestyle with diet and exercise. Take care of yourself.
