The new LG GD880 Mini is the latest mobile phone to bear the trendy new 'mini' brand name,SIM Free LG GD880 Mini is Unlocked to all networks Articles the new LG Mini joins an expanding range of handsets using this new name in their model description with manufacturers such as HTC, Sony Ericsson and Nokia all offering mini editions of their most popular phones. The LG Mini does have a unique selling point in that it is the worlds smallest mobile phone to feature a full 3.2 inch touch screen display, it achieves this by utilising a smaller bezel around the main screen which shrinks the overall dimensions of the phones width.Alongside with the new compact width measurement the LG GD880 Mini is also extremely thin at just 11mm deep and with an overall height of just 103mm this new LG phone will easily slip into a suit, jacket or even shirt pocket. The exterior of this latest LG Mini phone offers a very minimalistic design, there are no external buttons on the front of the phone as with so many touch screen handsets and on the reverse there is simply a camera lens. The camera is a 5.0 mega pixel unit which is pretty much industry standard at the moment with many other 3.2 inch touch screen phones offering this same resolution. The LG GD880 Mini is a 3.5G handset with HSDPA for fast download speeds of up to 7.2mbps, there is also WiFi for wireless internet connections and GPS for satellite navigation and route planning. Other features include an expandable memory, FM radio, multimedia player, Bluetooth and a whole hist of social networking applications. With so many new phones branded with the new mini tag the LG GD880 faces some stiff competition, the Nokia N97 Mini and new HTC HD Mini both offer the same 3.2 inch touch screen alongside a 5.0 mega pixel camera whilst the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini opts for an 8 mega pixel camera mirroring the larger 4 inch screened Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. This same manufacturer is also releasing the Xperia X10 Mini Pro which cuts back to a 5.0 mega pixel lens to incorporate a further slide out Qwerty keyboard.Other handsets offering a 3.2 inch touch screen include the Nokia X6, Samsung Galaxy Portal, Samsung Omnia HD and Sony Ericsson Vivaz but none of these can compete against the small dimensions of the new LG Mini phone. There are an array of network launches planned for this latest LG handset with Orange, O2, Vodafone and T-Mobile looking likely to offer the unit on pay monthly contract tariffs, there will also undoubtedly be a Pay As You Go release from one of the third party retailers on at least one of these network as well.
