What’s the difference between the iPhone 4 and its predecessors?

Rather than make a few tweaks to the 3GS,The Apple iPhone 4 Is The Ultimate Smartphone Articles Apple has made a completely new phone.  In terms of hardware, improvements have been made in just about every area including the handset itself, the camera, and the screen.

The superb 5 mega pixel digital camera utilises a pixel configuration of 2592x 1944 resulting in superb quality still images.  The camera comes with a comprehensive package of image enhancing features such as Autofocus, touch focus and an LED flash, as well as numerous downloadable apps for photo editing.  The camera can also shoot HD video in 720p 30 frames per second, with an LED video light and video geo-tagging.

The aesthetics of the handset are also completely different to its predecessor. The iPhone 4 is slimmer, and slightly squarer and arguably more modern looking.  Gone is the plastic casing of the last two iPhones.  It is now manufactured from metal and strengthened glass with a steel band running around the edge of the handset which actually doubles up as the antenna.

Arguably one of the most impressive features of the iPhone 4 is the LED-backlit IPS TFT capacitive touchscreen.  If offering a great user user experience when navigating the iOS 4 UI, it is highly responsive thanks to a 1 GHz Apple A4 processor. Apple has dubbed the screen the “retina” display, as the pixel resolution of 640x 960 is actually higher than can be perceived by the naked eye. This results in a screen which can display HD photos and video footage, making the iPhone 4 a breathtaking multimedia device. The screen also features an accelerometer and proximity sensor, and is made from scratch resistant glass.

Either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage is provided as standard, essentially eliminating the need for a micro SD card slot. Therefore even the basic 16GB model is ideal for storing files such as a music collection, which can be played by the built in iPod facility.

The iPhone 4 is great for browsing the web, with HSDPA and Wi-Fi providing the optimum levels of connectivity dependent upon location and signal strength. GPRS and EDGE give the handset it connectivity to cellular networks, and access to the AppStore allows users to browse and download apps from every imaginable category.

Whatever you are looking for in a smartphone, the iPhone 4 is sure to be a great choice for you. The manufacturer certainly knows how to build a smartphone; after all, millions of customers can’t be wrong!
