Thanks to a recent UK TV Advertising campaign, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz has already proved to be a popular handset since its March 2010 release. The one look at the spec list and you realise that you are not dealing with your average Smartphone. An incredible 8.1 mega pixel digital camera, touchscreen technology and Wi-Fi Internet access are just some of the impressive specifications of this attractive phone.

This 75 MB of internal storage provides room for data such as video clips, photos and music files.  A micro SD slot is also included for the same purpose and comes with a pre-installed 8 GB memory card.  This can, however, be upgraded to up to 16 GB, providing ample storage for the needs of most users.  The internal phonebook can store a seemingly endless number of contacts and boasts the ever popular Photocall feature.

 

As mentioned, an 8.1 mega pixel camera provides top quality still images thanks to a pixel resolution of 3264x 2448 pixels.  A number of image enhancing features are included ranging from Autofocus, LED flash, touch focus and face & smile detection.  The increasingly popular geo-tagging function is also included which uses GPS to record the location at which a photo was taken.  The camera also boasts the ability to shoot video in stunning 720p high definition quality at a rate of 24 frames per second.

 

The dimensions of the Sony Ericsson Vivaz are 107x 51.7x 12.5 millimetres making it a pocket friendly phone which is comfortable to hold and use especially given its light weight of 97 g.

 

Up to 16M colours can be displayed within a pixel layout of 360x 640 pixels within the 3.2 inch TFT resistive touch screen.  Therefore, high definition photos and video files can be viewed in stunning clarity, whilst the touch screen also offers a dynamic and engaging means to navigate the Symbian series 60 operating system user interface.

 

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz excels at of connecting to cellular networks and the Internet.  This is thanks to a number of connectivity methods which are employed.  In order to connect to cellular networks in all but the most isolated locations, class 10 versions of both EDGE & GPRS are utilised.  An Internet connection is provided at speeds of up to 10.2 mega bytes per second thanks to an HSDPA connection (along with HSUPA at 2 MB per second) in areas covered by 3G.  Wi-Fi also provides Internet access at much faster speeds whenever a signal from a wireless Internet router is detected.

 

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz ticks all the boxes in terms of both functionality and aesthetic appeal as it is available in a number of different colour variants.  Therefore, its success looks set to continue for quite some time.
