A powerful 1 GHz Qualcomm snap dragon processor works in conjunction with the operating system to provide a fast and smooth user interface and handles demanding applications with ease.  The handset offers appeal to a wide range of different users thanks to a long list of additional applications and features.  Social networkers are catered for thanks to the inclusion of Facebook and twitter integration, whilst music fans will appreciate the versatile internal media player which supports several different formats of both music and video files.  Additional entertainment options include a number of pre-installed games.  GPS with A-GPS support allows a number of applications to function such as a digital compass and geo-tagging as well as Google maps.

The XPERIA X10 measures 119x 63x 13 mm making it slim line and pocket friendly and weighs in at a lightweight 135 g.  This makes it ideally proportioned for comfort of use.  If the TFT capacitive touchscreen measures a whopping 4 inches and can display up to 65K colours within a pixel layout of 480x 854 pixels resulting in excellent quality display of on screen imagery, making it perfect for viewing photos and video files.  An accelerometer sensor is built in which automatically rotates the on screen image dependent upon the orientation of the phone meaning it can be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms.

In order to store data such as media files and documents, 1 GB of internal storage is provided as standard along with a micro SD card slot.  The latter comes with a pre-installed 8 GB memory card offering ample storage for music files etc, however this can be increased to up to 32 GB simply by installing a larger memory card.  The internal phonebook can store a seemingly endless number of entries and boasts the popular Photocall function.

If as mentioned, the XPERIA X10 is equipped with off a digital camera boasting an impressive eight mega pixels.  Because of the high pixel count, this operates at a high pixel resolution meaning the resulting images are of extremely high quality and definition.  Autofocus, touch focus, image stabilisation, face & smile detection and an LED flash are all included to simplify the task of taking quality snapshots.  Geo-tagging is also provided which automatically records the location at which a photo was taken thanks to GPS.  The camera can also shoot video and this is in WVGA quality at a rate of 30 frames per second, resulting in high quality video footage.

Class 10 GPRS & EDGE provides the XPERIA X10 with its connections to cellular networks, whilst access to the Internet depends primarily on 3G coverage, which is provided courtesy of an HSDPA connection at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second along with HSUPA at 2 MB per second.

Wi-Fi is also provided as a secondary means of connecting to the Internet, and this can be achieved at much faster speeds whenever it detects the signals provided by wireless Internet router.
