Parks are great fitness equipment:
Riverfront Park offers a variety of fitness equipment opportunities. They have miniature golf, the Ice Palace, and have you ever thought about doing the Sculpture walk offered on Centennial Trail? This is a great way to learn about the history of our city and stay fit at the same time.
Manito Park is another beautiful park that offers an array of gardens you can walk through, trails you can walk and paths you can jog, bike or take a stroller on. Depending on the time of the year Manito and Riverfront can be great fitness equipment tool.
Mountains are a great fitness equipment tool:
Don't look at the local ski areas as just a winter activity. Skiing, and other winter activities are great, but you can also use these destinations in the summer for fitness. They all offer hiking trails, scenic tours, and give you a chance to admire the wildlife and the nature that surrounds us here in our area.
Use the River as a piece of fitness equipment for a good workout:
The River offers many areas for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and other physical activities you can use for your fitness goals. We also have many lakes and rivers in our area that you can learn to kayak or canoe in.
Our city offers a variety of bike trails throughout our city. One such example is the Centennial Trail which connects Spokane, WA to Coeur d'Alene, ID. This route takes about 25 miles of the trail in Washington then goes over the mountains for the last 15 miles to Coeur d'Alene. There are several other paths throughout our great city, just remember to be respectful of others and wear the proper protective gear.
Hiking trails are a big hit in the area. We have several in our area that range from beginner to advanced. Try one of these or explore and talk to some locals to give you more ideas in your area.
