Some ideas for a stronger marketing approach for the P90X2 extreme workout program.
My focus with recent articles and some fairly recent posts on my bodyslimdown blog has been to take the perplexing issues surrounding the possible mediocre performance of the P90X2 Extreme Workout Program.
I don’t believe for a second that P90X2 extreme workout program can’t be a mega hit but probably not on par with P90X. That one was a megahit mostly for two reasons. First P90X got amazing word of mouth because it performed miracles for people who settled in and performed aka worked their butts off. Second, it became an experience that was almost universal. Like as has been mentioned many times before, you would have one heck of a difficult time finding anyone who worked out or wanted to get fit who hadn’t tried it or didn’t know someone who has.
It became a brand in the way Coke was. A lot of it was timing but that shouldn’t serve to marginalize the quality. Also it attacked the issues of personal fitness in such a way that was also universal. It said do these very conventional exercises in this order and if you do what I say, you will get results. Then bam it did and you could not only feel it but see it.
I would have to say that the P90X2 extreme workout program has the potential to have very strong word of mouth just on it’s own but the process stands to take much longer when you are talking about P90X2. The reason is that the P90X2 extreme workout program lives up to the extreme part and it is very hard for people to finish. So when people aren’t finishing, they are quitting and making excuses or finding reasons why they don’t like the program. This makes it very hard to get good traction in word of mouth. So bottom line is it might happen but it takes time.
As far as broadening appeal among the P90X graduates, you have a bunch of ways to go with this which maybe haven’t been adequately fleshed out to this point. First you can change the message and make it more about Tony Horton clearly explaining the differences between the programs and what the goals are for the P90X2 extreme workout program. He is someone that holds great sway and reliability with the people who completed P90X and loved it. Instead of talking too deeply about science, maybe just talk about why this is the next level, what it can do for you and have Tony doing the telling?
