White tea is known to be one of the most delicate tea varieties because it is so minimally processed. White tea is harvested before the tea plant’s leaves open fully, when the young buds are still covered by fine white hairs, hence the name ‘white’ tea.

Types of White Tea

Today,Types of White Tea Articles many countries outside China are cultivating their own versions of white tea from other tea plant varieties. Some of the most popular white tea varieties include: Silver Needle (Yin Zhen), White Peony (Bai Mu Dan) and Yue Guang Bai White Tea.

1.Silver Needle Tea (Yin Zhen)

The most famous White Tea, Yin Zhen is made exclusively from young tea buds. It produces a very pale yellow/green liquor that is light initially, then sweet and delicate.

Bai Mu Dan is made from combining buds and young tea leaves. The liquor is darker and more full bodied than the flavoured Yin Zhen and is usually considered less desirable. However the best quality Bai Mu Dan can be superior to everyday Yin Zhen.
