Types of White Tea

White tea is known to be one of the most delicate tea varieties because it is so minimally processed. White tea is harvested before the tea plant’s leaves open fully, when the young buds are still covered by fine white hairs, hence the name ‘white’ tea.

Types of White Tea

Today, many countries outside China are cultivating their own versions of white tea from other tea plant varieties. Some of the most popular white tea varieties include: Silver Needle (Yin Zhen), White Peony (Bai Mu Dan) and Yue Guang Bai White Tea.

1.Silver Needle Tea (Yin Zhen)

The most famous White Tea, Yin Zhen is made exclusively from young tea buds. It produces a very pale yellow/green liquor that is light initially, then sweet and delicate.

2.White Peony Tea (Bai Mu Dan)

Bai Mu Dan is made from combining buds and young tea leaves. The liquor is darker and more full bodied than the flavoured Yin Zhen and is usually considered less desirable. However the best quality Bai Mu Dan can be superior to everyday Yin Zhen.

3.Yue Guang Bai White Tea(Moonight Tea)

Moonlight tea or Yue Guang Bai Tea is a particular style of tea orginating in China's Yunnan province, is one among a select few you would certainly need to taste. Moonlight Tea is sometimes sold in compressed cakes like Pu-erh, and aged like Pu-erh, although it is also sold in loose leaf form, and consumed sooner after production. We named it as a white tea because its production involves withering and drying like other white teas, and its character resembles other white teas to a large degree, although its processing differs from that of other white teas in some ways.

White Tea Health Benefits

Because it is so lightly processed, White Tea is one of the healthiest teas you can drink:

1.White Tea is high in polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants.

2.Chinese medical practitioners claim White Tea is good for the teethFree Articles, hair and skin.

3.A US study at Pace University in 2004 showed that drinking White Tea can boost the natural immune system.
