Are Newbie Logo Designers Plagued by Ignorance?

Logo designers who are out of a designing school are often plagued by ignorance. Lack of knowledge have both its advantages as well as pitfalls.

Lack of knowledge and experience are the greatest hurdles that a newbie logo artist faces in his career. Ignorance and inefficiency are the two things that cannot be accepted in a creative field. It is ignorance that is taken negatively by clients or employers. I feel that logo designers who are just out of their designing school should be given a chance to prove their abilities. After all, they are new to the field of logo design.

Guys please don’t get me wrong here! I do agree that designers should have sound knowledge on various aspects of designing before they start working on a logo. What I mean to say is that a logo design solutions agency should give some time to fresh designers to gear up.

Newbie designers feel shy to admit their ignorance before clients. When a client comes up with some complicated logo, inexperienced designers pretend to show that they have knowledge. This should not be done.

Ignorance does have an adverse effect. A designer who lacks knowledge will fail to execute a design successfully. However, lack of knowledge might kindle the inquisitive mind of a logo artist. This inquisitiveness encourages designers to know and learn more.

When a client approaches a new designer with a design brief, he expects the logo artist to know all aspects of designing. The client thinks that a designer will visualize all the components of the logo ingeniously. And what clients find! The designer looks utterly confused, and badgers the client with silly questions. This makes newbies look stupid before their clients.

The biggest pitfall of ignorance is that an inexperienced designer takes a long time in understanding the design details of a project. If ignorant, he will fail to comprehend the complete details of the design brief.

Say for instance, if a client asks to integrate minimalism in the logo, an ignorant designer will look blank! He will have to do an extensive research to understand the rudiments of minimalist designs. And this will take time! If there are deadlines to meet, one cannot afford to waste time.

Another aspect that plagues logo artists is error in designing a logo. If a newly recruited designer is unaware of using negative space in logos, he is bound to commit mistakes.

If a designer is ignorant, he should acknowledge the fact. It will help in learning about something that he doesn’t know. This will save the designer from being complacent. He will have the urge to learn more so that he can start working on a logo.

If one doesn’t have knowledge on minimalism, it should encourage him to learn about it in detail.

·         Will Make a Designer Inquisitive

A designer who is ignorant makes him all the more inquisitive to know more. A logo artist who lacks knowledge will make him ask several questions. This way he will understand the details of a complicated design. By being inquisitive and asking questions, he will be able to clarify his doubts or queries. 

·         Makes You Look Honest

A designer who admits that he needs to learn more makes him look honest before his clients. The success of a client-designer relationship depends on trust and dependability. If a client feels that a designer is honest in his dealings, it reinforces the business relationship even more.
