Many health club type gyms will try to pre-sell you on the telephone and get you to come in for a visit. Use your own judgment there but in any case, you should ask all of them for a free trial. It doesn't really matter if it's a one night trial, 3 day or a week trial. Obviously the longer the better but the idea here is to go in and try their equipment out. Pay attention when the classes are held. Classes always fill the parking lot with cars and the gym with people. Notice and ask if you have to, when the peak times are for the gym. If you are going to stick with this, you need to make it stress free. Standing around waiting for machines or fighting for a parking spot causes frustration and you don't need that. Speaking of machines, when walking around the gym look for signs saying that machines are broken. Ask for the gym hours and if you have a small child or children, ask if the gym offers daycare services. Many do and some even offer it for free with your membership. Ask if they include a free training session or two with your membership. Once armed with the info of what hours the gym is open and what amenities they offer, you'll be better informed with which gym or gyms will work best for you based on when you figure you can get to the gym. You want to come up with a gym schedule that you can design and stick to without ever missing a day if you can help it. Don't be afraid to tell the gym owner or trainer what YOU need to see if they can provide it. Once you've collected all of this information, the next thing to do is to take advantage of your free day or days at the gym and to get in there and try things out.
