No matter how strange it may seem, cravings may be a consequence of certain diseases, according to Chinese medicine. This idea is confirmed by classic medicine as well.

Potassium cravings should be satisfied because they may lead to cardiovascular diseases, asthenia, or anemia.

Sour foods may stop nausea usually produced by fat excess, alcohol, pregnancy, indigestions, gastritis, hepatitis, renal insufficiency, or increased activity of the thyroid.

Bitter products clean the blood from the excess of cholesterol, toxins, and everything that may burden blood circulation. This is why the cravings for the bitter foods may be brought by cardiovascular diseases.

Pepper, curry, chilly peppers, or horse radish cravings may be a sign of pulmonary conditions because hot spices activate blood circulation.
