The easiest way to sit in meditation is in a dinning chair with a comfortable cushion place under your behind, as your mind will realize that if you fall asleep you may fall and pain ensues, not that it will happen just your mind will have that fear, it also is a great posturing position as you can use the chair to help keep you spine straight and your body upright using the chairs ergonomics to sit.

Another way to sit during meditation is to use a large cushion on the floor, either sitting crossed legged or kneeling, which ever you are comfortable with, this requires some balance and practice to go into a meditative state and not fall over during your meditation and if you fall to sleep it's not a long way down to the floor, with this posture setting you can also do intermediate to advanced meditations to achieve a higher state of meditation.
