A look at the reasons behind the differences between how men and women are perceiving P90X2.
Reviewing the reviews for the P90X2 DVDsbrings up a bunch of emerging type issues that are either a dream or a nightmare for the marketers in charge of the product. It all depends on what these issues are I guess.
From my point of view there has been a definite upward trend towards improvement in how users are overall gauging the p90X2 DVDs. The P90X2 DVDs are a home program which is comprised of 12 dvds, 14 workouts, a nutrition plan that includes a gluten free option and three levels to the program. The idea was conceived to take strong base of achievement and conditioning you achieve using P90X and build upon it while filling in the blanks that p90X couldn’t.
That is the area that I believe is the one with the most difficult problem of acceptance. First the makers of the program are asking you to accept that P90X wasn’t the everything of everything when it comes to home workouts. The P90X2 DVDs hit you over the head with the clear message that the P90X program wasn’t perfect. It didn’t get deeply into core strength, balance, or agility. It also was arguably a little shaky on the issue of cardio conditioning too. So P90X2 was supposed to be a continuation of an evolution.
This is where the gender gap becomes most evident. Women in reviews seem to be connecting better with the P90X2 dvds than men. I attribute this to a variety of factors which we women bring to many tasks and which we especially bring to working out.
P90X2 definitely favors the person that trusts and makes the commitment to finish no matter what. Women tend to have more patience with new moves and there are a lot of them in P90X2. Plus P90X2 brings you a lot of moves that are less traditional lifting and more yoga based. Women definitely gravitate towards these raw body weight strength type moves.
Also P90X2 puts a great premium on the ability of the user to closely follow directions with the correct form. Women users are very good generally at being strong on form and simply trusting that you will get the results you desire if you follow directions. Men I believe show a greater frustration with P90X2 because they often set out to try and defeat a program rather than simply follow it. When you take the attitude that all I have to do is what I am asked and no more, you will reasonably expect good things with P90X2.
