THE SIMPLE PLAIT

  1. Brush dried hair thoroughly and split into three equal sections at the nape of the neck.
  2. Take two of these sections in your left hand separated by one finger, and one section in your right hand. Then take your right hand over the top of the middle section whilst at the same time passing the middle section into your right hand. Pass the section that was originally in your right hand to your left.
  3. Now cross the hair in your left hand over the new middle section leaving you with two sections in your right hand.
  4. Finally, pass the section in the outside of your right hand over the middle. At this stage you should have the beginnings of a plait. Keep going like this until you reach the ends of your hair. At the end, secure the hair with a covered band and apply a little hair spray to keep the style in place

FRENCH PLAIT

  1. Separate the front of your hair from the back. Draw the separated hair back to the crown and divide this into three equal sections.
  2. To start with, do a quick left over centre, right over centre. As you continue, add extra hair taken from directly underneath each new section about to be crossed over. The amount of hair you pick up should be similar each time.
  3. Your plait will naturally follow the curve of your head. Keep going until you reach the nape of your neck and all your hair has been included.
  4. Secure the ends of your hair with a covered band

THE FISHTAIL PLAIT

  1. Thoroughly brush your hair. Firstly take a section of hair from either side of your face (about 3cm deep).
  2. Draw this hair backwards towards the crown and cross the right section over the left. Press the crossover point towards your scalp to keep it firmly in place.
  3. Using your left hand, pick up a new section of hair from the left hand side. Take this under the first section, and make it about the same size.
  4. Take this new section of hair over the right hand section and as you do so swap to hold the crossover point in place with your left hand. Then use your right hand to pick up a new section from the right and cross it over the section from the left. Again, as you cross, swap the hand that is holding the hair in place.
  5. Simply keep repeating this process until the hair runs out! Then fix in place with a covered band
