Chris Pawlett,Choosing The Perfect Wood Burning Stove - What Are The Important Things To Look For? Articles owner of the well-established Guisborough central heating and fireplaces company GA Pawlett, has been installing and selling boiler stoves and wood burning stoves across the North East for more than 35 years.

A growing awareness of the environmental impact of fossil fuels along with the desire to save the planet has brought about a renewed interest in stoves. Rising fuel prices have also been a factor in the growing trend for wood burning stoves. North East based Pawletts stock a wide selection from brands such as Stovax and Clearview.

Pawletts recently signed an exclusive distributor deal with Clearview, one of the leading solid fuel stove manufacturers of clean burning wood and coal multi-fuel stoves. Clearview have a beautifully designed and efficient range of multi-fuel stoves and is extremely selective when choosing distributors, as a result, North East based, Pawletts is the only supplier and installer within a 60 mile radius.

“First off, one of the most important things to consider when choosing a wood burning stove for your North East home is choosing the right location,” said Mr Pawlett.  “It should be located in the part of the house you want to be the warmest. This is generally the main area where the family spends most of their time such as the kitchen or living room. By locating it in this area, you will be warm and comfortable while you relax and eat meals.

“A common mistake is that people sometimes buy a stove that is too powerful or in some cases not powerful enough to heat the area, it is important to seek the advice of a good North East based dealer.  Once you have chosen a new wood burning stove I would strongly recommend, for safety reasons, having it installed professionally to avoid the risk of a chimney fire.

“When installing a multi-fuel or wood burning stove you will also need a chimney with a large enough flue pipe or a twin wall flue system. It is necessary to install an insulated liner within an existing chimney to ensure that there is a sufficient draw of air. A twin walled flue may need to be constructed if there is no existing chimney.”

One of the main attractions to owning a stove, especially on a cold North East winter night, is the look and warm feel of a real fire. This cosy feeling will certainly be enjoyed by all the family.
