With the government doing as much as they can to get you a tax break and extremely low mortgage rates, is now the best time to buy your first house?

When President Obama took office,Is now the time to buy a new home? Articles the economy was in shambles.  The financial backbone of this country was despised by the American public.  It was going to take a lot to make the sentiment better in the United States; especially with the housing market in a free fall.  Since becoming president, Barack Obama has done everything in his power to give Americans a glimmer of hope.

Shortly after getting into office, Obama signed the Making Home Affordable Plan to help current home owners refinance at a lower rate.  It was also designed to help new home buyers gain access to low mortgage rates in an attempt to put a bottom in home prices.  While we have yet to see a bottom in home prices, it is obvious that the actions taken by the government have given Americans hope.

Mortgage rates have fallen to below 4.8% on a national average and applications have been up almost every week.  No one really knows how many of these applications are getting funding but the truth of the matter is that there is a huge increase in the interest in the housing market.  At the end of 2008, no one had interest in buying a house.  The historically low rates have put a jolt into the housing industry and individuals are actually looking into buying homes once again.

It is possible that this is the best time in history to refinance or get a new mortgage.  Rates are low and there are tax breaks that have never been offered before.  If you have considered buying a home, now might be a great time to do your research and check out what is available.
