There’s a lot of garbage out there in the diet and fitness industry,How to Stick With Your Workouts Articles but what really works? It seems to me that people like to overcomplicate things. There are a few simple truths, which I’m sure you’ve been told before, but if you don’t start with the basic truths when aiming for a fitness goal, you’re sure to miss.

For starters:  Variety is a good motivator and method for progression!

Having variety in the exercises and workouts that you do is going to help you out in two ways.

First off, it’s going to keep you from getting bored with going to the gym.  If you’re doing the same thing over and over again you’re eventually going to get sick of it and possibly start skipping workouts until you make a change.  You’re going to notice this even more if you have a few exercises that you really hate doing.

So if you vary the exercises and workouts that you do, you’ll be a lot more motivated to workout because you’ll always be doing something different.  And the challenging workouts won’t be an issue anymore because you’ll realize, once you do them, you don’t have to do them again for a while.

Secondly, variety will keep your body from adapting too quickly and hitting a plateau.  If you’re doing the same workouts over and over again, not only will you get use to them but your body will too.

Your body can’t progress if you’re not making it continually adapt to changes in your workouts.  So, by bringing variety to your workouts, you’re going to keep your body continually guessing and adapting.  This is going to mean more progress for you and that you hopefully never stall out when trying to reach a fitness goal.

So I hope that after hearing this one more time that you’ll take it to heart and start actively bringing variety to your workouts.  Once you do, I think you’ll come to find that you’re reaching your goals a lot faster than you were before AND you’ll stick with it longer.
