But, since belly fat can be very difficult to get rid of, You can build muscle in your abs. So, you must first get rid of your belly fat to show any definition in your abdomen.

There are so many people who get easily discouraged because after all their tough work they are not able to see any developments. Little do they know, their abdominal muscles are already building, but they are not able to see the actual progress as the belly fats covering the abdominal muscles. What you need to do to annihilate that stomach fat is to do some hard hitting cardio exercises and sweat all that fat away. Start with at good diet, any diet you stick to should be suffice. There are a lot of diets out there so make an intelligent choice for your needs.Do no starve yourself, all you need to do is to burn away all the calories you consume. So even if you pig out, it's okay, but moderation will save you from doing your cardio all day and not having any time for you six pack ab routine. So to avoid this predicament, do not consume foods heaping with saturated and Trans fats. A diet of pizzas, burgers and treated meat will do you no good. in fact, this will just keep you right where you are.  You could eat all of this food if your goal is setting the record for the heaviest person on the whole planet or the fastest weight gain in a year. All the jokes aside. My personal opinion is, the Diet is the Heart of all aspects of workouts and weight loss.

Some of the best cardio exercises are right there in front of you. The goal here is to get your heart rate to turbo mode. Running, swimming, biking, playing some sports and maybe just going up and down the stairs at a good pace can make things happen for achieving your goals. Anything that can make you perspire and get your heart rate flowing will do the job. Doing this for about 15 to 30 minutes each day will show substantial results. In no time at all, you will be reducing body fat in no time at all.

"Cardio exercises  will only work if you already have developed abs". The reason why I left this saying here is that, one of my friends said this to me and I thought what is the matter with you. If you really believe that cardio exercises don't work then you have a different perspective on life. They work no matter if you have a six pack or not. But, you should integrate exercises that will impact your stomach muscles to develop. Crunches in different forms would be ideal. Avoid doing the same workout everyday as the abdominal muscles may get accustomed to them and just adapt to them suppressing muscle increase. In one day focus on the center muscles, the next day work on the side muscles. All in all you will acquire some nice six pack abs.

Also, increase the intensity of your workout over time. Say, after the first 2 weeks bump up on time and use weights if possible. You will do this to prevent the muscles from getting to comfortable with the routine. That's one of the reasons why we alternate workouts and muscle groups between days.
