Every day, thousands of Americans are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Recognized as one of the leading health hazards, resulting in blindness, amputation and death, it can be a curse or a blessing, depending on your perspective. This article recounts one person’s diagnosis and how it spurred him on to find a solution, which ultimately led to a better life.
Several years ago, I visited my doctor and he told me the worst. ‘You’ve got diabetes’ he said.
It was a shock that took several days to recover from. Like most, I focused on the worst – a life of frequent doctor or hospital visits, painful health conditions and an early death.
Then I decided to look at my diagnosis from a positive perspective. Over the last few years, my life hadn’t been very happy or fulfilling. My weight ballooned. My energy was gone. I felt old (even though I was in my late fifties). And I just didn’t enjoy life very much.
I took my diabetic prognosis as a challenge. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I decided to find a cure. One that would give me my life back and help me to enjoy each and every day.
A Journey To Find A Diabetic SolutionOver the next year, I studied this terrible disease and looked for any solution I could to defeat it. I Googled the Internet for days on end, spoke with experts on nutrition, exercise and medicine. Read everything I could about the latest remedies and cures.
Along the way, I uncovered a lot of snake oil and con artists, trying to thin my wallet, not my oversized belly.
But over time, I found out that the cause of diabetes – excess weight and high blood sugar, can be managed. And, if I got these two factors under control, I could be free of this disease and get my life back. A life full of energy, good health and happiness.
‘I got my life back’: Three Words That Describe Me Now
When my doctor told me I was diabetic, I thought it was the end. But by focusing on finding a solution, I found a new beginning that led to a healthy, energetic re-birth.
After an extended search, I discovered that by controlling my diet (no more 10 Cokes a day and Twinkies for breakfast) and restoring my body’s mineral balance (using all natural herbal remedies), my weight dropped and my blood sugar was controlled.
Sure, I felt sorry for myself for awhile. Most of us getting diagnosed diabetic go through a lot of self-pity. But by taking control of my condition, I found that I was in charge of my diabetes recovery. And I got my life back.
Today, I have much more energy. I enjoy an active, healthy life. And I know that if I can defeat this terrible Type 2 disease, you can, too!
