Have you ever been approached by someone in an MLM program and heard the following spiel:

"Hi Jack,MLM Tips - MPBTYP Syndrome Articles I want to tell you about this GREAT opportunity.  Let me introduce you to this great company named XYZ.  They've been open for a very short time, but man let me tell you, their business is exploding!  I mean, this is not even funny. You can get in at the ground level and you are going to make a killing selling their products.  Their comp plan is a-m-a-z-i-n-g!  The business literally builds itself.  Your upline will put people below you and man, in like 6 months, you are going to be making the mega bucks!  Pretty cool, huh?! Are ready to sign up?  It's only like $500 to join.  You shouldn't look at me like that's expensive.  Imagine buying a franchise with McDonald's.  Hey... wait, where are you going?  Aren't you interested in this opportunity?  You're missing a chance in a life time."

Even worse, have you used this tactic on people?  If so, then you have witnessed MPBTYP Syndrome, or "My Program Is Better Than Your Program" Syndrome. Today I am writing to let you know there is a cure that will help you in your quest to find people to join your MLM program.

Pay attention because this is something you're very unlikely to learn from your upline.

In general, you probably should not follow what your standard company guide says for recruiting.  It has you targeting the wrong individuals.  For most people, their warm market is not very warm at all.  You know what I'm talking about - go make a list of all your family members and friends.  Give them a call.  Introduce them to the opportunity.  My experience is that a few might be nice and join up under you, but this is no long term way to generate your leads.  You have to do something better!

Instead you need to do 3 things:

  1. Position yourself as an expert.
  2. Provide value.

Positioning yourself as an expert is actually pretty easy.  All you have to do is talk about what you know!  People that are interested in the same topics as yourself will find you and see you as an expert if they learn something new from you.  This is key for working on the Internet.  Positioning yourself as an expert also helps build trust - something that is hard to come by in this world.

A benefit of positioning yourself as an expert is that you provide value to the world.  This is no different than what Wal-Mart does when they offer something for sale at a very low price.  They are offering more value for less cash in exchange.  This bring people to them.  The nice thing about the Internet is that many times you can offer great value for almost no cash in return.  The laws do not change for you.  If you can offer value at a low or nonexistent price, people will come to you.

So what does all of this mean for MLM?

Quit bombarding people with direct assaults.  You have to be more sophisticated.  Help people first before you ask for something in return.  You can do this in all sorts of ways. You can write articles, produce audios, and create videos.  The only limit is your imagination.
