Having a home based business has many advantages but there are some things you need to consider before you even start.

Here’s 6 tips that will help you get off on the right foot.

  1. What kind of business should I start? You will have a greater chance of success if you pick something where you have some interest or experience. It’s a lot more fun if you know you can share your knowledge with others and your enthusiasm will be evident in your relationship to your customers. It’s also a lot easier to write about something you know rather that having to start from scratch and do the research.
  2. How much money do I need to get started? That,So You Want to Start a Home Based Business Articles of course, depends on the business, however, many home based businesses can be started with just a few hundred dollars, many even less. If it’s a network marketing business you can often start for less than $100. If it’s internet marketing business you can start with even less.
  3. What can I sell in my business? Network marketing home based businesses offer many products including nutritional products, legal services, skin care, cosmetics and many more. An internet marketing business can not only sell tangible products but information in the form of digital products. What’s nice about these types of products is that your product is delivered digitally. And since you don’t have to worry about packaging and shipping stuff out, your business can run pretty much on autopilot.
  4. Can I just sell someone else’s product and earn a commission? Yes, you can. In the internet marketing business we call this an affiliate program. This has many of the same advantages of selling digital products. When you refer someone who purchases a product you receive a commission from the seller, usually paid monthly. You don’t have to ship the product, provide customer service, process the payments or handle refunds. You just have to cash your check.
  5. How do I get the training I need? Any reputable network marketing business will provide plenty of training. Much of it is available via phone or over the internet, however, they also offer live meetings where you can interact with others in the business. There’s also plenty of training available if you’re considering an internet marketing home business and much of it is free. The danger is finding yourself with information overload to the point where you just don’t know where to start. I’ll talk about how you can avoid this in another article.
  6. How much time do I need to start a home based business? This again depends on the business and how fast you want the business to grow. Since most people are working a 40 hour a week job you’ll have to cut out the time for your business. This can be as little as 5 to 10 hours a week. You’re much better off working your business consistently 5 or 10 hours a week than working one week for 20 hours and the next week 2 hours. Goal setting and daily method of operation will be covered in another article.

Your thought of the day. . . . . . . .
