You would especially not like them traveling with you when you are on vacation and then have them move into your home or business with you. There are many insects that hitch rides, but one of the more prevalent ones lately is the Bed Bug. Hotels, schools, and homes have become infested.

Some might think that they can just get some spray to eradicate the insects. This probably will not work for this insect. Studies have found that to really get rid of them, you will probably need at least 3 applications of chemicals and perhaps more than that. This was found to be true a large percentage of the time. One of the problems with using so much chemical on these insects is that they will become used to the products, and it will not longer kill them. This being the case, along with other health risks, there are other alternatives that should be considered.

An alternative to chemical use for Bed Bug treatment is the use of heat. Heat eradication actually helps with odor and air purity as well as kills the insects with their eggs in a much shorter period of time than chemicals. Another consideration for using heat to get rid of these insects is that you will save money by not having to get rid of furniture or other things in your home or business.

Using cold for Bed Bug treatment is another alternative to chemicals. With a conversion of CO2 to dry ice, this kills the insects by freezing them. It is a good alternative to chemicals that are bad for the health of many individuals. If you own a business it could be dangerous to use chemicals as you never know who may be coming into your business. The same is true in your home especially if you have children or have families come to your home.

If you choose to use chemicals, research the risks. If you choose heat, know that it will be faster and it has other benefits as well. Cold, too, has benefits of its own. Unless one form takes on a monopoly, all of these will be choices.
