Being aware of the types of computer connectors

Even though the present era is fast moving to the digital stage, many people are still blind to the various high tech gadgets. Some people think it is not their field to know the pros and cons of technological advancements unless such fields directly influence them. Nevertheless, information technology cannot be ignored so easily since everyone has to face many instances where they should have some knowledge on computers to fulfil their day-to-day requirements. This calls for knowing what computer connectors are. Every one who uses a computer should know how to connect a computer to various other gadgets since there are many high tech components, which have to be connected using computer connectors to PCs to enable information to reach their computers. 

Everyone knows about the computer power connectors. Therefore, much information about the power connectors is not a must when talking about computer connectors. Nevertheless, it will suffice to say that the male end of the power connector should be connected to the wall socket or UPS and the female end should be connected to the power socket of the computer. The earlier mouse connectors consisted of pins. They are called PS2 connectors. According to the colours of the computer sockets, the cable colour should be connected. The old keyboard connectors are also in the same category.

The new computer connectors are designed for USB ports of computers, which are located at back as well as front of PCs. There are about as much as six USB ports on modern computers. The term USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. Another name for USB is Plug and Play cord. The user can connect external gadgets to USB ports when the computers are switched on whereas it was not possible with the older versions. The monitors of modern computers consist of an USB sockets to plug DVD Players that is called S-video jack. In addition, the computer connectors which digital cameras and external disks are connected are firewire ports.

To connect telephone and various modems, there are RJ-11 connectors. For Ethernet connectors, RJ-45 connectors are used. The parallel printer cables are also important computer connectors. The computer connectors for the male plug end of printer connector are called DB25 and it should be connected to the computer while the CN36 end should be connected to the printer. It is important to note that all most all the modern printers are connectable to USB ports. In addition, there are serial connectors as well and they are called RS 3 connectors. However, it is easier to find the relevant ports on computers to connect all these parts. Since they are colour stamped, connecting computer connectors to a computer is not a difficult task even for a kid.
