Long,What you should know about Multimedia Projectors Articles long ago, there were projectors that did video and then there were other projectors that did data. Today, that is no longer the case. Today, there are multimedia projectors that are the standard. These projectors are found pretty much everywhere – in home theater systems for gaming and cinema, in conference rooms, in offices and in classrooms and lecture halls.

However, let's be clear about what multimedia is. It is the projector's ability to to handle more than one type of source material. For example, it can handle analog data, digital data, home theater, and so on. Also, the term “multimedia” has to do with flexibility. Today's multimedia projectors are very versatile and can not only transmit video signals, but can also work with computer input and other sources.

These projectors range from a resolution of SVGA to models with resolutions up to 1080p and WUXGA+ (1920x1200). Most of today's multimedia projectors offer HDMI or DVI inputs, as well as other older standards, such as VGA and composite and S-videos. Even pico projectors that are all multimedia offer HDMI inputs. Those multimedia projectors that are tailormade for business and education also have built-in speakers.

These projectors have evolved over the years to have at least 5 to 8 different inputs. Many of these projectors offer wired, wireless or both and some can even present from content passed along the network. Other with wireless networking can even switch between different computers in the room.

Other more recent multimedia projector do not need computers or Blu-ray players, but can stream directly from the Internet. Some of you may wonder whether the low-cost pico or mini projectors are multimedia. Well, the short answer is yes, because they all support at least one video format.

Most of these multimedia projectors support computers and some even have a multimedia player that lets you project presentations from JPEG images. So, to cut a long story short, today's projectors feature both videos and stills combined. If that isn't multimedia, what is?

You should look at different features before buying your multimedia projector. These features include:

  • Weight
  • Resolution and lenses
  • Slots
  • Built-in memory
  • Sound
  • Rear projection

Modern multimedia projectors used for business are designed to provide benefits that will increase your ROI and will dramatically improve the quality of sales pitches, staff development sessions and other presentations. Depending on the model of the projector you choose, there are several benefits you will get ranging from crisp and highly visible images to great convenience.
