Founded and first colonized by Captain Wollaston in 1625, Braintree city was initially named as Mount Wollaston. During the reign of Thomas Morton, it was renamed as Merry Mount. After being resettled and incorporated as a town, it started to be recognized as Braintree. The land on which Braintree exists was once a portion of Randolph, Holbrook, the City of Quincy, and part of Milton. Many eminent personalities like ex-President John Adams and John Quincy were born in Braintree. John Hancock and General Sylvanus Thayer are some other names in the list. This is also a site of telephone inventor Thomas Watson.

Braintree town’s community is a mixture of suburban people. You will find strong residential character in and around ten miles south of Boston. The name of the shopping avenue is South Shore Plaza.

Braintree is filed with both historical assets and modern recreational centers. The entire region possesses several office and industrial parks. And it is all because of the city’s ideal location. This place has emerged as a very nice place to live and work. Town Forest, Pond Meadow Park, Sunset Lake, Smith Beach, the Cranberry Pond Conservation District, the MDC Blue Hills Reservation trail system, and an 18-hole public golf course are the most famous attractions in the city.
