While most travelers prioritize finding cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms, increasingly people are interested in maintaining a healthy lifestyle while on the road.
The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has launched a new hotel brand called “EVEN” to help guests maintain their health and wellness routines while they are away from home.
Surveys of IHG guests found that 80 percent of the respondents said that it was difficult to maintain their health routines and discipline when they travel.
EVEN is designed to provide support in four major areas: exercise, food, rest and work. Among the amenities that will be offered:
· Fitness centers will be prominent with “Wellness Walls” where advice and complimentary fitness gear will be dispensed. Workout friendly rooms will be equipped with multi functional amenities, such as coat rack/pull up bars.
· Hotel meals will feature fresh and natural foods. Free coffee and mini smoothies will be offered in the morning and flavored and filtered water in refillable glass bottles will be available.
· Guest rooms will come with hypoallergenic sheets, antibacterial wipes and other wellness oriented features.
· Rooms and lobby areas will enjoy natural light, free Wi-Fi, and easily accessible outlets and USB ports.
IHG operates the Holiday Inn and several other brands. Its focus is on converting existing properties rather than trying to finance new hotel construction.
