Having more familiar with Starbucks teas and coffee, I wasn’t sure what to expect when walking into Activebody Burnaby’s juice bar, and meal prep storefront in Burnaby, but co-owners Tyler and Andrea Withoeft immediately made me feel welcome—and eager to try everything from their sweet tooth paleo snacks to their healthy meal preps.

Activebody Burnaby has been making juices since 2010. Their store in Kingsway,Press Release : SEPT – ActivebodyBurnaby Articles Burnaby also carries supplements and cooks meal preps. That are unique, delicious and healthy. From their organic turkey, grass fed beef and free range chicken menus to their wild fish and breakfast. Surely there is something you would like to try.

While several juice bars have started to crop up all over in the greater Vancouver area, Activebody Burnaby brings something new to the table with ingredients unique to Activebody. Andrea is a certified nutritionist, “she brings  a healthy twist to traditional recipes,” says Tyler as he tells of customers who are delighted to try the unique menu creations.

Andrea and Tyler decided to ease me into the pressed-juice experience, starting with So Fresh (alkaline water, jet strawberry, basil, New Body pink lemonade flavor and vanilla protein) and PB & Jam (banana, berry blend, peanut butter and hydropure protein) popular with kids. Which despite its brown colour was more refreshing than the sugar-filled varieties I’m used to.

“We list the benefits and tell the clientele what’s good for them,” owner Tyler said. “We want to grow the education component to teach customers about health and healthy living. We’d like to have the customers leave with informed decisions on how to take their health to the next level.

Aside from their bold choice of ingredients, they also work hard to create juices and meal preps that aid digestion, boost metabolism and deliver a handful of other health benefits. “We did a lot of research to learn about how food can help your body from the inside out,” says Andrea, including working on helping your hormones.
