An oil change is much quicker than the average doctor's visit. In spite of this, some people do a lot of grumbling about the perceived wait.

When you do something for the first time,An Oil Change Does Not Take That Long Articles you don't really know what to expect. So, when Maureen's husband, Fred, went away for a work-related trip, she had no idea what to expect when she went to get an oil change. Her husband was usually the one to take the vehicles to the shop for maintenance. However, he forgot to take his wife's car for a much-needed oil change before he left. So, she had to handle it on her own.

"Honey, it's very simple," said Fred. "You tell them what you need and they will take it from there."

"Well, I know it seems easy to you, but you know I don't go in those car shops," Maureen said. "It's entirely too much going on. Besides, I don't want to be in there all day."

Fred smiled slightly as he listened to Maureen's rant.

"It's not going to take long dear," he said. "You should be in and out of there in no time."

As Maureen prepared to leave, she began to gather some things to help pass the time as she waited to get her oil change.

"I know he said it will be quick, but I think he was just saying that to make me feel better about the situation," said Maureen as she searched through her stack of romance novels. "I will probably be in there for about 2 hours. So, I'm going to need something to entertain myself."

When Maureen finally finished narrowing down items to bring along, she went on her way. She had coffee, her miniature coffee pot, a coffee mug, 2 novels, 3 magazines, her small portable computer and the newspaper.

When she got to the place, she went up to the front counter to speak with the receptionist.

"May I help you ma'am," asked the receptionist.

"Yes, I want to get an oil change," said Maureen. "But, first can you come help me get some things out of my car. I needed to bring something to keep me entertained while I waited?"

Slightly confused, the receptionist agreed. As Maureen handed the employee the coffee pot, the worker couldn't hold her inquiries any longer.

"Ma'am, we actually have a coffee pot," she said. "Also, are you bringing all of those books and magazines? It's really not going to take that long."

Maureen smiled at the receptionist.

"You sound just like my husband," she said. "I think it's nice that you are trying to make me feel better, but I can manage. I'm used to waiting in the doctor's office."

As Maureen sat with all of her belongings, including her coffee pot that was sitting at a nearby table, the receptionist and some of the other workers tried their best to hold in their laughter.

Twenty minutes later, the worker called Maureen to the front to let her know that her oil change was complete. Maureen's mouth dropped open, as she stared at all of her items and turned red with embarrassment.
