There are many techniques used for process mapping that you use for your business. Each of them has their own pros and cons. Some of them are listed below:

  1. Process Flowcharts – Most common types of business process maps. They are easy to create,What process mapping techniques/methods are most useful in the business world? Articles usually hand-drawn or simply made in software like Office. But it lacks adaptability or flexibility. As mentioned earlier, it is hard to run them.
  2. Swimlane Diagram – It is identical to a generic flowchart, but it has one additional feature that each step in this is divided between different teams or individuals responsible for them.
  3. Value Stream Map – A value stream map is usually used for lean six sigma applications. It is beneficial for a more in-depth look into a process.
  4. SIPOC – SIPOC stands for Supplier Inputs Processes Outputs Customer. This is a basic process map that takes away most of the information to give emphasis on the crucial part of the processes and the people involved.

Business Process Mapping Software – It is one of the most high-tech tools for process mapping. You can track the processes once the process mapping is done, i.e. the ways processes are being performed, check if there are any loopholes or bottlenecks, missed deadlines, etc.
