GSM Technology has Changed the World

Perhaps the invention of the mobile phone is responsible for the overall ease of communications that we enjoy today.  Nowadays everyone in the world is just one phone call away from each other no matter where they are in the world.  With the presence of mobile phones,GSM Technology has Changed the World Articles you can be reached anywhere and also at anytime.

The %85 of all the global mobile networks in the world is comprised of GSM Technology.  GSM stands for Global System for Mobile Communication. GSM technology is the dominant technology in Europe and in Asia.  In the GSM transmission mobile phone signals are sent at either 900 MHz or 1800 MHz frequencies.  Almost all of the GSM Networks in the world operate in these frequencies.  However United States uses a different cellular phone protocol and thus they use different frequencies for their GSM network since 900 Mhz or 1800 MHz frequency slots are all filled up.  In the United States, the GSM frequency is 850 MHZ or 1900 Mhz.

With the GSM technology, it has been possible for mobile phones to send SMS (Short Messaging System).  Thus it was a pioneering beginning, as you were no longer dependent on a call, but rather you could easily use data text messages as a cheap and a convenient way to exchange information with your peers.  Because of the significant advancements that GSM brought, it was called as Level 2 G Technology.

Now the GSM technology is even expanding more than it was thought possible.  With the new advancements in the GPRS system, now it is possible to use your mobile phone to connect to the Internet cheaply. Of course, with the new technologies such as EDGE, it is also possible to connect to the Internet over speeds of 144 K/ bs in many countries around the world.  You can also use your mobile phone to send videos, or multimedia messages through the GSM network easily with the new protocols. You can download information, send video, send audio and with some new features in GSM networks such as “Push to Talk” you can easily just use your mobile phone like a walkie talkie and it is now possible to send a single voice message to many recipients at the same time.

Of course, this boom in the GSM industry has caused variety of phone accessories such as Bluetooth communication accessories and better chargers for more lasting conversations.  The sector is growing more and more every day and it is estimated that billions of dollars have been invested into the system.
