With the growth of the Internet, there are now more possibilities than ever to make friends using an online form of communication. One possibility worth looking into is using Skype.

Skype is a software application that allows people to communicate via the Internet from anywhere in the world,How to Make Friends with Skype Articles using text, voice and video. It’s a highly accessible and easy to use method to interact with others online.

Also, due to the option of using voice and video communication, it makes human interactions more personal and makes it easier for two people to bond. Here are my top ideas on how to make friends with Skype.

1. Find like minded people online. The first step does not involve Skype; it involves other means of online communication such as blogs, forums and social media. Use these means to identify like minded people that you would like to connect with, and get their contact details (email especially).

2. Give them an email. After you’ve identified a person you’d like to interact with, the best step to take initially is to contact them via email. Give them an email, introduce yourself, tell them how you found them and express your desire to keep in touch. If they’re OK with that, then you can ask for the Skype ID and add them on Skype.

3. Skype text conversation. After this, when you find a person you want to make friends with on Skype, use the opportunity to chat with them. However, you want to first start the interaction using text only to check how they’re doing and if they’re busy, and to exchange a few words. If you find out they’re not particularly busy, ask them to continue the conversation using sound and possibly video.

4. Skype sound and video conversation. If the other person agrees, you can transition to talking with sound and perhaps video. At this point, the conversation gets a lot more personal and meaningful. This is your chance to get to know each other better, discover commonalities and have a fun interaction.

If your conversation goes well, you can make it a periodic thing. As you chat with the other person suing Skype periodically, a bond between you will develop. And now that you know how to make friends with Skype, you may even decide to occasionally meet in person some of your new online friends.
