The HTC Desire is one of the most popular smartphones currently on the market. Boasting an extensive and impressive spec list, it is easy to see why, especially considering its surprisingly low price tag.

The HTC Wildfire is one of those phones which ticks all the boxes. It is lightweight,The Desire By HTC Is An Impressive Android Smartphone Articles has a large 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, and also features the highly customisable HTC Sense User Interface. This provides a wealth of features including FriendStream which offers a revolutionary method of social networking by consolidating data from a number of feeds and displaying them on a single screen sorted by contact rather than source. Running Android OS v2.1 (Eclair) and a powerful 1GHz processor, it is a fast and powerful handset which really sums up the word Smartphone.

Android Market offers access to a database with thousands if downloadable apps, which can be either downloaded for free or can be purchased. This offers endless scope to improve the everyday functionality of the HTC Desire. Just like Apple’s AppStore, there is an App for just about anything, and it is growing on a daily basis. Downloading new apps, content and games from the Android Market is as simple as a few touches of the screen.

Thanks to the powerful snapdragon processor, browsing the web is a breeze, and through a 3G or Wi-Fi connection seems to be as fast as surfing the web on a broadband connection on a home computer. The web browser is Flash enabled, allowing flash animations and videos to be viewed on websites, something which very few phones are capable of doing. The AMOLED screen is excellent for viewing rich web content, and it only takes a double tap of the screen to zoom into even the smallest of text. Pinch to zoom also allows this, and even automatically scales the text to fit the screen, eliminating the need to scroll up and down or side to side. When browsing a website, one can easily highlight text and is then presented with a number of options. These include the ability to copy the text to clipboard, or search it in Wikipedia or Google, or translate it with Google Translate, with a single touch of the screen.

The 5MP digital camera located on the reverse side of the HTC Desire takes decent (5:3 Widescreen) pictures in a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels. An impressive software package is supplied alongside the camera, which offers a number of image enhancing features. Once a picture has been taken, and edited if required, it can then easily be shared via your preferred social media network. The camera can of course shoot video footage as well, and this is in equally impressive quality as the still images. This makes for a perfect camera for both photography enthusiasts as well as those who simply like to take spontaneous snapshots.

Extensive media support means the internal media player can accommodate a number of music and video file formats, and again, thanks to the processor, multitasking is no problem, meaning you can browse the web whilst listening to music.

All in all, it is very hard to find fault with the HTC Desire. Ticking all the boxes in terms of both form and function, and hardware and software, it is easy to see why this is such a popular phone.
