RAID is a storage technology that combines multiple disk drive components into a logical unit. It is helpful in increasing the memory of computer system.

I am a movie maniac and love it to the depth of my heart,RAID levels, Data Recovery and Prevention methods Articles but I prefer to watch it on my personnel computer, and repeat them frequently, but my computer was getting chuck day by day, as its memory was getting full, then I research on this and got the solution by using RAID technology, and able to increase the computer’s memory.

RAID (redundant array of independent disks, originally redundant array of inexpensive disks) is a storage technology that combines multiple disk drive components into a logical unit. It is a scheme evolved so that a large number of low cost hard drives can be connected together to pattern a single large capability storage device that boasts better presentation, reliability and storage capacity compared to older storage answers. Before RAID was utilized for storage in the server and enterprise markets but in the last 5 years this programs has become much more widespread in end user systems.

A number of benchmark schemes have developed which are referred to as levels. Some of the most common RAID levels are as follows,

·         RAID 0: block-level striping without parity or mirroring.

·         RAID 1: mirroring without parity or striping.

·         RAID 10: mirroring and striping.

·         RAID 2: bit-level striping with dedicated Hamming-code parity.

·         RAID 3: byte-level striping with dedicated parity.

·         RAID 4: block-level striping with dedicated parity.

·         RAID 5: block-level striping with distributed parity.

·         RAID 6: block-level striping with double distributed parity.

Some of the methods that will help you in data recovery of your hard disk are as follows,

·         Less usage of computer until all the lost files are recovered.

·         In internet browsing do not use the same computer.

·         Do not copy any files on the disk that contains your lost data.

·         Delete files that are not required to free some space on the disk.

·         Empty your recycle bin.

·         Empty the browser cache.

Some of the RAID data prevention tips are as follows,

·         While copying facts and figures from an old hard drive up on another that is utilized in the array make certain that the old computer disk is kept round for a while.

·         Select RAID levels according to your needs.

·         RAID-5 is good in multi level environment.

·         If you are concerned about disaster recovery planning, then hardware array is the best choice than software based RAID array.

Some of the problems which are related with the RAID are as follows,

·         Correlated failure: it is assumed that failures of drives are independent. Motherboard failure won’t affect the hard drive.

·         Atomicity: failure mode for redundant storage system that do not utilize transactional features.

·         Write cache reliability: occurs in old, non-journal systems where write back option is chosen without any protections, normally BSOD occurs.

·         Equipment compatibility:  may not be possible for various RAID controllers to read a RAID on different hardware with the exception of RAID-1.
