We write this paper in non-formal style or you can think about it as ‘fresh air’.  If you have specific questions then feel free to contact us directly see email and phone numbers below:

1.  Intercompany integration.  This is a good step for the group of companies where there is central one which is responsible for paying ‘expenses’ on behalf of ‘child’ subsidiary.  This schema is common in commodity trading or investments.  It is also popular in multinational corporation environment.  Parent company also can see inventory levels in the whole group as well as summarized business partner outstanding balance to control credit limit just to open the list of features.  Consolidated financial reporting is described in the paragraph below

2. Consolidated Financial Statements.  The idea is the following.  Let’s assume that you have two companies A and B.  Instead of pulling GL entries from both and combining them via reporting tree (as it is done in Microsoft Management Reporter or FRx) it allows you to move GL entries into so-called ‘Consolidated Company’.  This ‘consolidated company’ is in essence fictitious and you do enter documents directly in it.  Historically it was known as General Ledger level consolidation back in earlier 1990th.  This mechanism supports multicurrency and in our opinion is convenient tool for multinational firm.  Of course it is always a good idea to have standard chart of accounts realized in all subsidiaries.  However it is not required as there is account mapping form from one branch to another

3. Consolidated Managerial Reporting.  In cross company version there are such important reports as Branch Inventory in Warehouse Report,SAP Business One Chicago Atlanta moving toward version 9.0 Articles Sales Analysis Report and others

4. From Software Development Kit to Business One Studio.  It seems to be more flexible with user defined objects as well as B1i Integration Framework

5. Integration Framework.  There are such cool features as exchange rate automatic upload as well as integration with high end SAP packages which you may use in the headquarters

Let’s now answer popular questions that we got about future version from our prospect and customers:

Q.  We use Business All-in-One in the headquarters and we need to implement something standard in our international subsidiaries.  Is B1 a good candidate?A.  In the whitepaper for 9.0 it is referred as ‘Easy and Reliable Subsidiary / Ecosystem Integration’.  It is the step forward to help domestic and multinational corporations to consider Business One as ERP for child companies/foreign subsidiaries

Q.  We are ‘midmarket multinational group’ with headquarters in Chicago and manufacturing outsourced to Brazil and China.  We do not have commitment to any specific accounting platform yet here in the headquarters.  We understand that B1 is available in countries mentioned above.  Our concern is about number of users and performance if we decide to implement it for the whole groupA.  With subsidiary consolidation feature we think that it should be considered.  The limitation is probably not a concern as midmarket companies typically have something like up to fifty users.  Data is hosted in Microsoft SQL Server and it is powerful.  You are right the application is available in Brazilian Portuguese as well as in Chinese and it supports Unicode (hieroglyphs)

Q.  Our Brazilian branch controller found local firm and suggests that he should purchase separate licenses for subsidiary in Sao Paulo.  By the way we have SAP in our headquarters in Atlanta.  We are kind of leaning toward having all accounting databases hosted in the United StatesA.  We would rather support your idea.  Our mission here in the USA is to advise multinational companies to prepare SAP B1 template company with chart of accounts and naming conventions for rapid deployment for their international subsidiaries.  Client application should be exposed via Citrix or similar application server technologies
