These days,Your single and have spotted a man you're considering dating! Articles many men and women are finding their perfect romance on the Internet via online dating – and a few unlucky individuals are finding their perfect online dating horror story!  The Internet is a faceless communications medium in which any con can be anything they claim to be.  This does make it easy for the players to swindle their way into your head and into your heart – but it may also make for the beginnings of a very strong romance.  Online dating enables you to get to know  your online date more deeply than just a casual meeting at a cafe before committing to a meeting. How do you work out whether you’ve caught a keeper or a throw - back?

So think you’ve found a perfect single man! You’ve been knocking about in your online dating chat rooms, and just last week this new man came in. His nickname is Brad Pitt, which set your heart a-thumping the moment you saw it, and of course you had to chat with him. "You’re not Brad Pitt, are you"? No? Do you look like him?” He responds in the negative to both, however informs you he looks better than Brad Pitt. He’s a Sydney accountant, with his office in the CBD. And you’re off and running.Over the course of a couple of weeks you spend ten or so hours chatting with him online. You feel comfortable with this man, and he seems to be telling you all of the inner thoughts and feelings he has. How do you know he’s the real deal? Here are a few ways to find out.

How does his appearance stack up?For starters, always request pictures. That is pictures, plural. Why?He may have found a generic photograph of a suitable bloke on the web and downloaded it and put his name on it. Its unlikely that he would have more than one photo to share with you if this was the case. In this modern age of inexpensive digital cameras and fast speed connections for uploading pictures to online dating sites in a flash, there is virtually no reason for a person not to have two, three, a half-dozen photographs of themselves doing different things, from sitting in their lounge to knocking back a schooner at the hotel. If you’re presented with photos that were obviously taken all at one sitting,  if they appear to be professional shots, this should raise an alarm bell. If he looks like he’s too perfect in the pictures, this also, should raise the alarms. Real people on singles sites with photos are not usually flawless.

Find out his interestsDoes the man seem to be interested in lots of things that you are? Or does he have some interests that you don’t share? If he’s only involved in the interests that you mention first, ask him what other things he enjoys.  An answer of “Oh, you know, abit of this, abit of that! Let’s talk more about YOU!” is not acceptable. A real human being has definite likes and dislikes of their own, and is generally willing to share them, often in nauseating detail.

Do you have compatible friends? You both reside in Sydney or its environs, also you both chat in the Sydney chat room on. It’s fair bet that you’ve got at least one or two online dating buddies in common, if not, then in offline life. Chat to your common friends and ask questions about this man. Be prepared to be let down, but hope for good feedback.

Is this guy consistent? There are a number of deceptive men using online dating sites who are caught through simple inconsistencies. If he tells you on Monday that he is a big fan of Van Halen, but then on Friday he doesn’t seem to know the lyrics to a song you both talk about, you may have a problem there. If he mentions to you that he’s a big Star Wars fan, however doesn’t remember which planet Luke Skywalker is from, you should probably be cautious. On the other side of the coin, he tells you every part of Luke’s life, and knows how his face became mangled in real life, then its a step in the right direction in the trust department.

Will he allow you to ring him?If a man you meet online is not willing to give you his home mobile or home number, this may be a sign that he’s got something to hide – for example, he’s married or attached and co habitating with them, and you are possibly on his plans to become his mistress. However is not definitive, as, for example, some guys these days only have mobile phones, also others may be concerned about giving out their contact information to a strangers from the Internet.  Online dating can be hard work for both daters.

Conclusion. The simple facts are that the majority of singles you meet online should be pretty who they say they are, although there’s always one bad apple in every barrel. Check for consistency, believability, and keep basic safety as a priority without being paranoid, you may well end up meeting the date you will marry some day.
