In the same manner, its failure could also be blamed to a weak, non-performing downline team. Most beginner network marketers fall for this mistake, costing them a lot of money and wasted time and efforts in the process. Avoid these mistakes by using these tips for building a strong downline team:

Target them well.

In the same manner that you cannot rely on a bookkeeper to perform as a rocket scientist, you shouldn't also rely on an individual with little or no interest to perform as your downline.

The invitations you send out at the beginning of your recruitment are critical to building a strong downline, so make sure the people who sign up for your program are highly targeted. If they have the interest, you merely have to provide the training, support and a little motivation. If they don't, nothing you could do will make them work hard.

Offer 100% training and support.

Another secret to building a strong downline is to make sure that your members know and understand the marketing program you're promoting. Many network marketers make the mistake of recruiting like crazy, only to leave their downlines high and dry, with no knowledge and little background on what the program is all about. Don't do this.

When people sign up for your program, don't simply assume that they already know what to do. Some of them might have the experience but many others won't have any idea on how to begin.

This is where you come in as their upline and team leader. Give them complete information regarding the program, products, services and the company behind it. Make sure that the compensation system is well understood and that they know what sorts of goals they need to set in order to achieve the kind of earnings they want.

Be available if they have questions. Offer full support. If you have a downline who seems to be lacking in stellar performance, offer assistance. There may be certain aspects in their practices that you can correct.

Teach them everything you know.

Remember that network marketing success is duplicable. There's nothing unique about what you do that your downlines cannot do themselves. The same is true with you and your upline. If they have been successful, you can study what they do, apply it and expect a good level of success as well.

So whatever 'secret' you might have regarding your program, share it with your downlines. Remember that building a strong downline assures you and your program better likelihood of success. If your downlines succeed, so will you.

Motivate, motivate, motivate.

No network marketing team is perfect. Just because you have a working downline doesn't mean you can just sit back and let them do the work for you. You as the team leader must work just as hard to steer them in the right direction.

If you want to build a strong downline, motivate them frequently. Offer advice, tips, recommendations and if necessary, corrections. Check on their progress, offer guidance on the most difficult phases of the program and be there in case they have questions. Do regular follow-ups - use e-mail and/or text messages, newsletters, blog posts and if possible, phone calls. Let them know you're on top of the situation and that you care about how they perform. That way, you get to personalize your communication and push them forward to achieve their goals.
