A drain is a thing which we should keep clean otherwise it creates a nuisance like unpleasant or bad odour or the clogging of the drain. These signs mean that your drain is in danger i.e. it will be blocked soon. So, you need to keep a check and try to keep your drain clean and if you notice something fishy then you can easily solve them.

  • Easiest way is to pour down the boiling water in the drain slowly to unclog it.

  • Using 1/3rd cup of Baking Soda and Vinegar will be effective for the clogged drain. It will remove the hair and grime build in the pipe.
  • You can use a plunger in the time of clogging of the sink as drain unblocker. Fill the sink with enough water and then firmly press it down over the drain and give many quick plunges.
  • There are some easy plumbing jobs which you can do yourself like an empty bucket and place it underneath u-shaped pipe i.e. the trap. The bucket will collect the spilled water. Then loose the slip nuts at both ends of pipe to free the trap. Turn the trap upside down to empty the contents in the bucket. Rinse it with water and then put it back together. This technique mostly cleans grease traps.
  • Salt, baking soda & boiling water works as a chemical reactor to dissolvenastiest blockages. Mix 1/2 cups salt and baking soda. Pour it down the blocked drain and leave it for 20 minutes and then pour the boiling water.
  • For clogged bath drain, mix 1/3rd cup of baking soda with vinegar and the pour it down the drain. After 60 min. put the stopper over the bathtub and fill it and then remove it. The pressure of so much water will be enough to unblock the drain by dislodging the blockages loosened by baking soda and vinegar. This can work to remove solid waste blockages as a solid waste treatment.
  • You can also try using some bacterial treatments which are available in the market to clean grease traps or for drain cleaner, solid waste treatment, etc. Use them overnight and periodically to keep your drains clean for a long period of time.
