Farmingdale, NJ (September 24, 2007) – D.W. Smith Associates, LLC, has announced that Nicholas V. Coppola has retired as a member of the company.
Timothy P. Lurie has succeeded Mr. Coppola as Managing Member. He becomes only the third leader in the company’s 42 year tenure besides Mr. Coppola and company founder, Donald W. Smith.
D.W. Smith Associates is one of the largest and most successful design and engineering firms in the state. The company is well known for its “Greengineering” term which applies to its eco-friendly designs. The Farmingdale firm has been lauded for its award winning senior and residential housing developments, parks and highway projects, golf courses and marinas. D.W. Smith also designed First Energy Park, home of the Lakewood Blue Claws.
“I’m honored to take over the reins from Nick,” says Mr. Lurie. “It’s a pleasure to work with such a talented group of planners, engineers and surveyors,” he adds, noting that all employees are committed to creating the ecologically responsible designs the firm has built its reputation on. Toward that end, Mr. Lurie has announced the expansion of an environmental division headed by Penelope Griber and Kevin Rothauser. He has also announced the restructuring of the management team. “I direct the engineering team, while Thomas J. Murphy is our Director of Surveying. Jennifer N. Nevins is our Director of Finance and Administration. The three of us form the new management team.”
Mr. Lurie notes that he wanted to foster a cooperative process between the firm’s divisions. “Today’s projects need to be all inclusive, touching upon all of our areas of expertise which include Engineering, Land Planning, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Services, Site Remediation, Information Technologies.”
