You can join clubs or activities where you'll meet people with the same interests as you. You can also start any number of hobbies or be a volunteer where it is so badly needed. Begin these things before you actually retire.
There are also many traveling clubs for people who have retired. You can fulfill your dreams of traveling around the world when you are retired. You can experience the world to the fullest without worries, and you will meet new people and see different cultures.
Financially, it is important to find out how much you think that you will need after your retirement. Usually, people need around 70% of their current income to stay the same after retirement. This is based on the assumption that the home mortgage is paid off and there are no other debts at retirement time. It also depends on what activities you plan to do after you're retired. Find out what different ways you can save your money such as a individual retirement accounts or a retirement account through your employer. There are many different ways for you to save, depending on where you live and your type of work. The most important thing is to live on less than you earn and consistently sock the money away.
