Mozzarella, Tomato And Pesto On Whole Wheat Bread

So simple, yet so delicious. Slice some fresh mozzarella cheese (not the shredded kind in the bag -- this sandwich calls for only the best!) and top a slice of whole wheat bread with a thick and hearty piece of red, fresh tomato. If you're feeling ambitious, add some freshly made basil pesto, however, if you're in a time crunch a few fresh basil leaves are a delicious substitution. Turkey, With A Twist

Turkey is a staple for healthy sandwich recipes. It's low in fat, high in protein and all around good for you. However, turkey can sometimes get a reputation for being a bit boring. Instead spice up your turkey. Choose one that's been seasoned with cracked black pepper, but don't stop there. Use a spread made out of sun dried tomatoes and garlic and herb cream cheese instead of a slice of cheddar. Add some baby spinach and you've got a tasty treat to get you through the rest of your day.

Mix Textures

What do soft, whole wheat bread, creamy hummus and crunchy bell peppers have in common? They all combine to create one of the most delicious healthy sandwich recipes. If you're feeling ambitious, you can make your own hummus fairly easily by combining roasted garlic (make sure to roast it, otherwise the garlic taste is overpowering), canned chickpeas, tahini and sesame oil in a food processor. However, if you're not up to making your own homemade hummus, it's easy to find in nearly any grocery store.

Healthy Egg Salad

Egg salad can be delicious, but mayonnaise isn't exactly a health food. Instead of mayo, smash up some avocados and stir it into some chopped hard boiled eggs. While avocados do have a high fat content, the fat is actually healthy for you, which means you can feel good about eating it! Don't forget to add vegetables like tomatoes and spinach to up the nutritional content even more.

These are only a few of the incredible possibilities so put on your chef's hat and start experimenting in the kitchen. You might be surprised at the end result!
