Rotisserie chicken may have its roots in medieval days when servants cooked meals over open fires,Rotisserie Rotisserie Chicken - the Perfect Grab and Go Meal! Articles but it has managed to stay around as a main course meal even today. Of course medieval cooks did not have the advantage of all of the different spices and different types of rubs that we have to put on our food today, but the common method is still being used.

Rotisserie chicken has remained popular for a reason. Not only is this one of the healthiest ways that you can cook a chicken is also one of the most flavorful. If you think about it, your cooking options for chicken are not always the healthiest when it comes to preparing food. For example fried chicken may be a southern finger licking delight, but deep frying anything is not heart healthy cooking.

Your other options for preparing it may be healthier on the heart but they're not always easy on the cleanup -- such as oven roasted chicken, which usually means scrubbing and soaking a pan with baked-in grease for hours to clean up the mess.

Maybe our medieval ancestors had it right by simply cooking their meat whether it was a whole ox or a whole chicken directly over the fire. Not only does the meat retain its natural juices, making it more flavorful, but it also eliminates unhealthy cooking habits and extensive cleanup.

If you're addicted to rotisserie chicken there are two ways you can obtain it. You can either make it yourself or you can buy it already made. For many working families this makes a good grab-and-go meal at the end of the day, especially with two working parents and not enough time to cook.

The majority of parents work outside the home and options for healthy and nutritional meals that aren't so pricey can be hard to find especially when you want something already cooked that you can add your own meal to easily.

Rotisserie chicken is a great centerpiece to a meal that you can make by simply opening some cans and heating vegetables. In five minutes you can have a wholesome, healthy meal to feed an entire family at an economical price.

And most delis or supermarkets that sell rotisserie chicken offer it in a wide variety of flavors so you can have everything from sweet and spicy, to tangy, barbecue or whatever you're in the mood for.

And if somehow you managed to salvage leftovers, last night's chicken dinner also makes a wonderful sandwich for lunch the next day which probably makes you want to brown bag it for lunch the next day.
