Going green is such a huge movement right now,Go Green in Your Atlanta Apartment Articles but the emphasis is usually placed on what homeowners can do with their homes to conserve.  There are plenty of things renters can do that can have less of a negative impact in the world.  Though it might take a few more steps for the renter to implement changes, it can make a huge difference.

One easy thing to do is to install a low-flow showerhead in your bathrooms.  These showerheads are now designed to give you the low-flow water without sacrificing your great water pressure.  The next easy thing to do is to get an egg timer and time your showers.  A three to four-minute shower is about all you need.  I usually put on a favorite song and get out when the song has ended.

You can also grow some of your own herbs for your kitchen.  This will also cut down on grocery bills.  You can plant rosemary, basil and thyme in small pots and leave them in a windowsill.  This will also give you the added bonus of a delicious aroma in your apartment.  If you have a balcony, you could even start growing some vegetables, like tomatoes or cucumbers.

Turning up the temperature in your Atlanta apartment might seem like a bad idea in the sweltering Georgia summer, but it is actually very easy to adjust to.  You will use less energy by turning up your air conditioning up to 76 degrees instead of 70 or 72.  In the winter, 68 degrees will also use less energy and save you a huge amount on your electric bill.

Lastly, and perhaps the easiest thing to do in your apartment, is to recycle!  This is a great thing to begin for yourself and you can also get your neighbors involved.  If your apartment complex does not have a recycling program, perhaps you can help implement one.  Usually if you can gather all of the necessary information, the leasing office will be happy to assist you in getting the word out.
