There are dozens of ways in dentistry to cure the dental issues and two of the most popular amongst are Porcelain Veneers and Composite Veneers. Those who have some knowledge of dentistry or those who have undergone such treatment procedure may know what these techniques are and how they are different from each other. But for those who have heard the names for first time and want to choose the better one amongst them, it is important to understand the difference.

So here is this write up clarifying the difference between porcelain veneers and composite veneers:

Porcelain Veneers:

Also referred to as dental veneers, is a thin shell manufactured with special material called ceramic. The porcelain veneers teeth problem is crafted as per the size of teeth it is supposed to be placed on. The tooth colored shell looks similar to the original teeth and thus it becomes very hard to identify whether or not the veneer has been placed over the tooth, making it look more aesthetic and natural.

In the process of making the porcelain veneers, the dentists take the size and shape of the tooth and then manufacture the veneer in laboratory. This type of veneer can only be manufactured indirectly, which means, the veneers are framed in a laboratory and then placed on the tooth. Therefore, it becomes crucial and difficult to manufacture the veneers of exact size and shape because the dentists have to go as per the shapes and size recorded earlier. However, this type of veneers has longer life span and works perfectly for up to 15 years.

Composite Veneers:

Composite veneers are also similar to the porcelain veneers, in manufacturing and functions. But they have only one difference. Unlike porcelain veneers that can only be manufactured indirectly, the composite veneers may be manufactured either indirectly or directly. This means, the dentists may either create the veneers in a laboratory by taking the shape and size of the tooth, just like porcelain veneers, or may create the veneers inside the mouth.

The direct placement of composite veneers is easier and highly effective, but it demands a great level of carefulness. The patients may need to give long visits to get the veneers completed. Patients residing in Mumbai and are suffering with multiple veneers for different teeth must have a visit to the best dental clinic in Mumbai.
