Big pharm and prescription drugs have had their day in the sun, and medical schools pump out doctors ill-prepared to prevent, heal, and manage their patients’ chronic problems such as fatigue, “irritable bowel syndrome” or “IBS,” GERD, obesity, diabetes, insomnia, thyroid disorders, and many others. Supplementing with the right vitamins and minerals along with a change in lifestyle is the integrative approach to healing.

The overwhelming majority of doctors coming out of traditional Western medical schools,Getting the Right Supplements Articles even the best ones, are not really prepared to deal with the chronic physical conditions that plague a huge portion of the American public.

Why? Because the entire Western medical system is designed to cover up symptoms, not really to investigate what the true underlying causes are for those symptoms. In addition, and as usual, whenever a system like this takes root, you can be sure that big money firms are not far behind, sometimes in front, to take advantage and make a fortune. In fact, with the ballooning cost of medical care in America, the main problem is that simple, manageable, chronic conditions are approached from the incorrect direction resulting in many millions wasted and continued patient suffering.

So what can you do? First, find a doctor who is open-minded and knows what to look for. Find someone willing to explore, look and think critically about what the research really says, and treat the reasons for your symptoms, not cover up the symptoms themselves.  Look for “integrative” doctors, find a doctor involved with the American College for Advancement in Medicine, or someone in your area willing to look at the facts.

Some of the things this type of doctor will certainly look at are whether you are deficient in any number of vitamins, minerals, and other essential elements of a healthy constitution.  If you, like most people, have serious deficiencies in vitamin D, you will almost certainly be told to supplement. If you have deficiencies in trace minerals, you will need to find a way to support your body by getting the proper supplements you need at the same time you change your diet and lifestyle habits that may be contributing to your chronic condition.

The most important point to know however, and which is becoming more and more mainstream and accepted, is that we are not getting the nutrients we need from the food we consume due to depleted soils, pesticide infestation, and a general deterioration in food quality and choice.  Doing everything you can to promote a healthy lifestyle, and getting the highest quality organic, non-GMO supplements you can find, will go a long way toward getting you on the right track to reclaiming your health.
