The acai berry has been surrounded by much hype recently. The acai berry is a fruit from a series of palm trees that can be found in south america. The berry has been promoted heavily in the united states as a wonder food that can help people lose weigh, and get healthy.

The acai berry looks a lot like a grape about 1 inch in diameter and contains a seed that takes up most of the entire volume of the actual berry. Historically, the amazonian population used the berry in fruit drinks and as a source of food.

There has been much information thrown around about the health benefits of the acai berry especially in regards to it's ability to help an individual lose weight. Some people claim the berry has extremely high levels of antioxidants whilst other research shows that although it is high in antioxidants, other berries like grapes and strawberries are actually higher. Most people cannot come to a definite answer to how healthy the acai berry is, but it is still good for you. 

Many companies have been claiming the acai berry as a weight loss marvel, claiming you will shed pounds off every day. This however is simply not the case. If the berry is combined with a healthy diet, a health and fitness program, and a healthy lifestyle you may lose weight.

However, if the berry is taken with no exercise, with no reduction in other fatty foods, cigarettes or alcohol then the weight loss is not going to happen. The acai berry combined with a healthy lifestyle can help you lose weight. The berry on it's own is not going to magically make you lose weight.
