Most of us know about modern day stress, smoking, alcohol, lack of sleep and exercise. These are the external factors responsible for aging. Other than these the foremost cause of aging is inflammation.

Inflammation is the body's response to fight off foreign cells like viruses and bacteria. The body activates white blood cells to fight any external cells. In most cases these cells are pathogens and toxic. But, as we age the body goes on to become mildly autoimmune.

Autoimmune is same as inflammation. The only difference is that the body cannot distinguish good from bad cells. So it fights with its own cells thinking that it is harmful. In doing so the body slowly starts to degenerate. And this is where signs of aging show up. Inflammation can further lead to heart disease, arthritis, atherosclerosis, brain and heart disorders.

We need our bodies to be inflammative. But when it gets out of hand we have a problem. And now over here what does fish oil do? Fish oil contains a polysaturated fat called as omega 3 fatty acids. It has properties which are highly anti-inflammatory. It helps in lowering inflammation and thereby slowing down the aging process.

Fish oil is best consumed as supplements rather than as food. Which means you would be better off consuming two fish oil capsules rather than devouring the whole salmon. Also, consuming too much of fish can lead to mercury poisoning. Fish supplements which are molecularly distilled are the best bet. Needless to say it contains more of omega 3 fatty acids at a much cheaper price.
