While it may seem funny, YLOD actually represent a serious hardware issue that PS3s experience from the motherboard overheating. This can also happen from very cold conditions, so don't think to throw it in the freezer. What causes the YLOD is a section of the motherboard that can be damaged by cracked soldering.
