When spring and summer come round,6 Ways to add more bling to your backyard Articles the last thing you want to do is spend them indoors. This is especially true if you have a nice backyard – regardless of how big or small.

Spring and summer months and even some fall months are the ideal time to spend in your backyard oasis, enjoying the fresh air, so why not invest some time and money into making it over?

Here are a couple of ways to add more bling to your backyard, check them out, and you may become inspired to redo your outdoor space.

  1. Outdoor furniture

Starting from the obvious which is furniture. Nice, outdoor furniture can mean a world of difference – you can transform your backyard into a resort-like retreat.

When choosing outdoor furniture make sure that you choose something that fits your space and that will last for years to come. The good thing is that you have options – you can go for aluminum, wrought iron, plastic or wooden furniture.

Each of these options has its benefits, for example, aluminum furniture is super lightweight and it won’t rust, and wrought iron furniture is elegant and timeless and comes in many different styles and designs. Plastic furniture is easy to maintain and it’s also a good solution because it’s durable.

When it comes to wood furniture make sure you choose furniture made of teak, eucalyptus, or cedar. Teak and eucalyptus don’t need to be sealed every year so they are super easy to maintain, while cedar is bug and moisture resistant.

  1. Color palette

Once you’ve chosen your outdoor furniture, you can move on to deciding the color palette you’ll incorporate into your outdoor space. Our recommendation is to choose light and bright colors so it can be a nice contrast to all the greens and wood tones of your backyard.

Incorporate pillows, table-cloths, and rugs in neutral and white tones. On the other hand, if your backyard looks a bit dark and it lacks all the greenery you can use a color palette to bring life and color to your deck. Choose throw pillows and an outdoor rug with bold colors and prints that will define the outdoor sitting place and that will make your deck come to life.

  1. Weather protection

Not all decks have pergolas, gazebo, or any type of sun or rain protection. This is why you need to be creative and think of a good solution for your deck.

Investing in a gazebo, especially if your backyard is on the smaller side, isn’t really a great solution as it will make your already small backyard even smaller. Similarly, covering your deck can block the light and make the inside of your home look darker.

The perfect solution would be a nice big sun umbrella or even better a popular retractable roof. Retractable roofs are durable, waterproof and what’s even better you can control them with your smartphone. So, when you need protection from the elements you can pull out the roof, and when you don’t need it just push the button and your roof will retract on its own. Super convenient!

  1. Light is a game-changer

Nothing can set the mood quite as good as the lighting can. And lights can also be décor elements if placed correctly. You can use whatever lighting elements you want or need from outdoor candle holders to string lights.

Stringing fairy lights around the banister or railing can add a whimsical look to any patio or deck. Strategically placing outdoor candle holders with different size candles can make any space look timeless and romantic.

If you prefer a safer option you can place battery-operated tea light candles or solar outdoor lights all throughout your backyard. You will see how adding any sort of lighting to your garden can make it look like a wonderland!

  1. Flowers and planters

To make your deck come to life even more add some plants and flowers. Planting flowers can make a world of difference to any backyard deck and even more so if you decide to plant them in interesting planters.

A pot or planter can add so much bling to your backyard décor – choose planters and pots in different sizes and shapes, colors. They can add texture, pop of color, and you’ll see how much of a statement piece they can be.

You can choose rattan planters for a vintage look, or you can go for metal planters for a more industrial look. The options are many, just make sure that these planters are good for the outdoors and extreme weather.

  1. Add interest with a hammock

A nice hammock can make your patio, deck, or porch look so relaxing and inviting. Additionally, a good hammock can add interest, and be a piece of décor, especially if it’s made of bright and bold colors.

A hammock is a simple way to add something new to your backyard and make it stand out a little more!

Adding more bling, more charm, or more interest to your backyard has never been easier. Play with colors and styles, add different types of planters, add more flowers, or simply change the décor. You can set the mood with lighting or add more interest with a hammock.

Play around with a style of your backyard, but don’t trust the weather – always cover your outdoor area!
